Why Dealers Quote So High — And What We Do Instead

Dealers don't repair at component level. When your ECU, mechatronic unit or body control module fails, the dealer's response is almost always the same: replace the whole unit with a new or remanufactured one, charge for the part plus fitting, and possibly charge for programming on top. This is efficient for them — it's not efficient for you.

We take the failed unit, open it up, find what actually went wrong, and repair that specific fault. In most cases the rest of the unit is perfectly functional. The result is your original, already-matched unit back in the car — working correctly, under warranty — for considerably less than the dealer's quote.

ECU Replacement Quotes

Dealer prices for a new ECU typically start at £800 and frequently exceed £1,500 with programming. Component-level repair of the existing unit is almost always significantly cheaper.

DSG Mechatronic Quotes

A new or remanufactured DSG mechatronic at a VW or Audi dealer can cost £1,200–£2,500 fitted. We repair your original unit for considerably less, with a longer warranty.

BCM and Module Quotes

Body control module replacements often come with a programming charge on top — adding hundreds of pounds to an already expensive job. Repair and cloning avoids all of that.

Airbag Module Quotes

Dealers often quote for a full airbag module replacement after a crash. In the majority of cases the module needs a crash data reset and possibly minor repair — not replacement.

Common Questions

Can you always beat a dealer quote?

Not always — but in the vast majority of cases yes, significantly. If for any reason the repair cost is comparable to replacement we'll tell you straight and let you make the call.

Does repairing the original unit mean it'll fail again sooner?

No — we replace the failed component with a quality replacement part and the repaired unit is no more likely to fail than a new dealer unit. That's why we offer a 12-month warranty.
